Case Study: How Schätzl Grows With Cloudprinter.com?

Schätzl is a print house headquartered in Germany. Within the last 40 years, the print house has been continuously evolving, which distinguishes Schätzl from other companies in the industry. Now, Schätzl is an e-commerce company that focuses on digital printing. In this case study, Ulrich Schätzl, CEO at Schätzl, discusses how Cloudprinter.com helps their print house grow print order volumes and gain clients from all over the world.

The Challenge

The main challenge faced by Schätzl was that global brands wanted to order centrally but produce decentrally. That's why Schätzl opted for cooperation with Cloudprinter.com and eventually acquired access to global clients.

"The integration with Cloudprinter.com is easy, fast, and straightforward."

Why Cloudprinter.com?

This is much appreciated because I hate playing games and this was a frank and open eye to eye conversation. First, and I think most important, is that right from the beginning I talked to Yuka and Martijn and all the discussions were straightforward and based on a sense of partnership.

Secondly, if you are a convinced digital on-demand printer and see the concepts of Cloudprinter.com — production close to delivery destinations, eco-friendly approach, print decentralization, etc., you realize how much they coincide with your vision.

Moreover, global brands want to order centrally but produce decentrally. This particular Cloudprinter.com concept enables us to service brands that we would never get without a multiplayer like Cloudprinter.com.

Also, Cloudprinter.com did some really clever integrations with a huge workflow system that we also are using. I believe this helps Cloudprinter.com extend its print network with highly professional companies.

So this is a combination of 2 main factors that convinced us to start collaborating with Cloudprinter.com — good people and a good concept. And that's why we are happy to be part of the Cloudprinter.com community.

The Integration Process with Cloudprinter.com

We had no clean switch workflow in place. If we had, the integration would last one or two days.

I think the basic integration was done within three or four days — pretty fast. We also had to spend some additional workload on our end, as we had to shift Cloudprinter.com orders to our operations management system.

But this is not related to Cloudprinter.com’s technology, as these were some internal topics. Overall, the integration with Cloudprinter.com was easy, fast, and straightforward.

Print Volume Growth

The volume increased and that was of course the aim of both parties — for Cloudprinter.com to have a print partner in Germany  and for us to service the brands that are distributed via the Cloudprinter.com platform. We started with our main products — photobooks, and now we're adding calendars.

It's a constant growing process, which is much appreciated. Because this is a long-term and long-lasting idea, we don't want to get millions of pages within one week and drop down a week later.

The concept is good and we've been growing constantly since we have connected to the Cloudprinter.com platform.

Now, the processing of orders doesn't require any effort from our side. All we need to do is just set up new SKUs, but no effort with product setup — it's totally automated.

"If you want to fill your presses — become a part of Cloudprinter.com global network."

Benefits of Cooperating with Cloudprinter.com

There are 4 main benefits of collaboration with Cloudprinter.com:

• The first benefit — we are part of an international worldwide network
• Second, this enables us to access brands we would have never serviced without this global approach
• We save sales capacities
• And finally, if you grow, we grow as well.

Cloudprinter.com vision matches Schätzl idea of:

• Networking
• Shared decentralized printing close to the delivery destination
• Eco footprint
• Mutual growth in the global network.

Advice for Other Print Houses

A piece of general advice or recommendation: when you want to reach out to Cloudprinter.com, you have to know what you are good at, what are your main competencies, and your core products.

That's the first thing you have to do. Let's say, this is your homework.

And if you want to fill your presses — become a part of Cloudprinter.com global network. Reach out to Cloudprinter.com and get connected to this rapidly growing community when you have the right product-to-demand match.

That's what I would recommend — either in Germany or outside.
