Should I choose a brochure or a textbook for my artwork?

A brochure and a textbook look quite similar, but there are a few differences that help you to choose the right template and product specifications in the Cloudprinter.com dashboard.

The difference between a brochure and a textbook:
  • A number of pages

In a brochure, the number of pages can be from 8 up to 100 pages in increments of 4 pages.
Brochures are printed on large sheets, which are twice as large as the closed size of the brochure. These sheets are then folded in the middle and attached together. Each of these sheets contains 4 pages, 2 on the front and 2 on the back sides of the printing sheet. This means that there's always a multiple of 4 pages.

A textbook can have a much bigger number of pages than a brochure. The book is bound in another way, but the number of pages has to be even.

  • Binding method

A brochure is thin, so staple binding is strong enough. This is the main reason why the number of pages is limited.

A textbook (because of the number of pages) requires a more durable method of binding. Cloudprinter.com partners provide perfect binding.
Perfect-bound books contain sections with a cover made from heavier paper, glued together at the spine with a strong adhesive glue. This type of binding is very strong and lasting.

  • Cover

In a brochure, a cover is pierced with metal staples which violate the integrity of the paper.
The cover may start to shake with prolonged use.

This type of bonding can withstand a lot of page openings and provides greater strength.

Now you have known with the main differences be and summarize them a brochure is preferable for a short number of pages, whereas a textbook format is better for a bigger amount of information.
