How to Design a Notebook?

*While preparing your file for print, you’ll have to exclude the bleeds layer.

Follow these 6 simple steps to design and prepare your Notebook for print:


  1. Choose the size and cover
    Select from available Notebook sizes and pick the cover that fits you best
    - Case wrap
    - Case wrap with pad
    - Coil binding.
  2. Select sheet style
    There are 3 available sheet styles, simply choose the one that fits you best:
    - Dotted
    - Lined
    - Blank.
  3. Determine spine width
    This step is relevant for Notebook A5 CW P and Notebook A5 CW with pad P, as these Notebooks have a spine.

  4. Calculate the cover size
    This step is relevant for Notebook A5 CW P and Notebook A5 CW with pad P. While designing your Notebook, you'll need to determine the size of your book cover, for this, add up:

    Notebook A5 CW P
    - Cover spine
    - Cover squeeze — 5mm (0.197 in)
    - Cover sides
    - Cover overlap — 3 mm (0.125 in)
    - Cover wrap — 18 mm (0.750 in).

    Notebook A5 CW with pad P
    - Cover spine
    - Cover squeeze — 5mm (0.197 in)
    - Cover sides
    - Cover overlap — 6 mm (0.197 in)
    - Cover wrap — 18 mm (0.750 in).
  5. Set bleeds
    Don't forget to set 3 mm (0.125 in) bleeds at each side of your Notebook cover to make sure you don't lose any important data.
  6. Prepare Notebook file for printing
    - Set 300 DPI resolution
    - Choose RGB print
    - Save the file in PDF/X-4.

Well done! Now you can print your Notebook all over the world as close to the delivery destination as possible.
